Lukas Kania, BS
Education Lukas graduated from Brown University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and certificate in Data Science. He will be pursuing a Master’s in Data Science this fall at Brown University where he will continue to develop skills such as machine learning, statistical modelling, and deep learning. Research Interests Lukas joined the Breast Tumor Immunology Lab in June of 2021 to experience data science in the healthcare sector, specifically in cancer immunology. He is currently working with single cell RNA sequencing to identify the cell-types within breast cancer tumor samples from gene signatures. The goal of this to provide insights to the make-up tumor samples and how immunology can be utilized. He previously was working with Brown University professors to improve various data science courses from machine learning to statistical inference. As a data science fellow, he was introduced to large data sets and the power that programming languages can have while analyzing them. This led to a curiosity in data science and how it can help the world become a better place. Interests Outside of Lab Lukas enjoys playing hockey and exercising with friends. He also enjoys spending his weekends being outdoors with family and friends. |
